White Cane Day

Home

Lions Clubs throughout Georgia hold White Cane Days each year to raise community awareness about the work of the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation. White Paper Canes are given to the Public as a symbolic reminder of the White Canes that the visually impaired use to be mobile in public. Funds are also raised during White Cane days are used directly to provide services.

Through January 21, 2003, $217,000 of Lighthouse funding has provided $823,000 worth of sight saving surgeries across Georgia. We are getting $4 in value for every $1 spent. This accomplishment is due to the discounted and donated services received from hospitals, anesthesiologists and ophthalmologists and is provided for those who would not otherwise be able to afford the price of sight.

Contributions from the Lions Clubs throughout Georgia help restore hope where there was none.
