From the President of the Dawsonville Lions Club, Chip Sweatte

Greetings,

I wanted to take a minute and update those of you that could not attend last nights meeting.

Great news, Lum Edwards and Sara Catanzano are both home and doing better. We wish them continued good health.

You raised over $370.00 dollars last Saturday at Ingles raffling tractor tickets, great job. Thank-you to those that were able to help out. NOTE: This Saturday we are selling tickets at Kroger. Please contact Katie Hulsebus to volunteer.

Our road signs are in the process of changing. With the closing of Gold Creek we need to update our road signs. With the approval of Lorena we will update the meeting location on our signs to read, Lorena's Restaurant. Thanks Jason for all of your hard work on this.

If you have not visited our website lately please take a minute and click on this link: www.dawsonvillelions.org Fred Pember has done a fantastic job with the site. Thanks Fred for all of your expertise and hard work.

The Golf Tournament is on track. Thanks to Andean Chevrolet for picking up our Hole-In-One sponsorship. Great work Bob Ferguson!  Please continue to follow-up on sponsorships. We have about three weeks to go.

I received great feedback from you on the recent survey. Thank-you for your comments.  Bottom-line: Based on your comments I need to do a better job with focus for the club, getting new members involved in activities and communicating to the membership.  I am re-looking the clubs mission statement as I write this. I will make sure it is an appropriate statement that provides focus for our club. The board and I will re-look the activities we participate in and make sure we focus on our mission. Soon, the board will provide a membership campaign plan that clearly outlines, new member orientation, sponsorship, and involvement. Finally, I will format a monthly newsletter sent via mail to the membership.
I need your help with any ideas you have about membership, service projects or club activities in general. I am also looking for someone to provide a great service to the club and volunteer to write the monthly newsletter. Please send me you comments.

Upcoming Events:
27 Aug is a Zone meeting. Right now 13 members have indicated they will attend. This is an excellent opportunity to meet fellow Lions form surrounding clubs. Please let me know if you are interested in attending. The meeting is 7:00 PM at Lorena's and the cost is $10.00 per person.

15 Nov is the District Rally. This year the Rally is in the Gainesville at the Civic Center. Friday evening is a reception and Hall of Fame induction at the Holiday INN in Gainesville. We have 8 signed up so far to attend. Times: Friday evening 7:00 PM. Saturday, 9:00 AM Cabinet Meeting, 12:00  for the Rally. Cost for each event is $20.00 per person. Please let me know if you want to attend so I can get your name on the list.

8 Sept is our next meeting at Lorena's. Our Vice District Governor, Grace Clower is the guest speaker. This is a spouse night and dress is business attire.

Donations:
The Club voted to provide $200.00 dollars to a wonderful person in our community.  Her husband received a Liver transplant and she is making multiple trips to Emory hospital. The money will assist with expenses. Thank-you.

Membership:
Unfortunately we lost three members: Tim Webb, Richard Parker and Tom Schaide

Finally, I want to thank all of you for your hard work. I know it is difficult serving our community with our busy schedules.

"We Serve"

Chip
